Summer 2019 Interns : Bella and Amy

Refugee Hope Partners seeks to love our refugee neighbors with the hope of the Gospel. God has provided so many ways for us to do this at Cedar Point Apartments, but we could not do it without the help of volunteers that give of their time, talent, and treasure. This summer we have had the privilege of working with four young ladies that participated in our internship program. These ladies have worked hard and loved much.

Bella is homeschooled and will be a Junior this fall. She has been involved with the ministry at Cedar Point in several different ways over the past few years. Before becoming an intern, she helped with our Homework Help program and a Backyard Bible Club that her church puts on every summer. Some of her favorite moments during the summer were when she arrived at Cedar Point and was greeted by lots of smiles and hugs. Bella says that God has taught her through this internship how to love with the love of Christ…”The same God who places kings on their thrones, commands galaxys into motion, and makes flowers bloom loves and cares for each person individually. He has taught me through the people of cedar point that my love should reflect Christ in my everyday interactions.”

Amy will graduate from NC State in December with a degree in Biology and minor in Psychology. Amy heard about RHP through a family connection when she was looking for an internship in order to finish her degree. A memorable experience for her this summer was the week we had a Health Camp for the kids in our community. She enjoyed seeing the kids learn about various topics and receive items that pertained to the topic to take home that day. In response to what God has shown her this summer, Amy said “Even-though our words may not always be heard, our love for those kids is felt, and they come in everyday and give you a big hug and are excited to see you...I think that has just really proven to me that while our words can be useful tools, the way we treat each other speaks so much louder and that love has no barriers.”

We are so thankful for these ladies giving of their time and talent this summer. If you or someone you know is interested in our internships, click here.
