Medical Ministry

I think everyone needs a medical advocate. Thanks for doing this.
— Nurse at Duke Raleigh

The medical ministry arm of RHP exists to:

  • advocate for the refugees at Cedar Point in navigating the US medical system

  • educate to promote better health and to equip toward independence

  • provide services onsite to make healthcare access easier

Our Volunteers:

  • Visit homes to assist in scheduling appointments after accessing needs

  • Drive families to appointments as needed

  • Follow up on Dr. instructions, effectiveness of treatment, and correct use of medications

  • Plan and execute educational programs

  • Plan and assist with clinics such as flu vaccinations, sports physicals, kindergarten physicals

  • Communication liaison between school nurses and parents regarding the health of their children

  • Communication liaison between doctors/dentist and the patient

Every Friday afternoon from 3-5 pm we have office hours in the community center and make home visits to evaluate needs, fill out history forms, and schedule appointments.

How To Get Involved:

Transportation: Our biggest need is for volunteers to schedule and drive patients to appointments. Most of our needs are on weekdays but clinics are typically on weekends.

I’m interested in getting involved in the
Medical Ministry!
