Opportunities

There are many ways to serve at Cedar Point! Email info@refugeehopepartners.org if you are interested in an opportunity listed below. We’ve love to partner with you!

Homework Help Volunteer (commitment level: flexible)

Middle School (Monday-Thursday 3-4:30 pm), Elementary School (Monday-Thursday 4:30-6:00 pm), High School/College (Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 7-8:30 pm). This is a “come as you can” opportunity so we do not ask for a commitment of a specific day or time. We need volunteers for all time slots - but have an especially high need for additional volunteers for our high school and college Homework Help time slots. Don’t let the higher school levels intimidate you. Many of our students need help just processing reading material and understanding vocabulary. Even a commitment of once per month would be a big help!

Afternoon Homework Help Host (commitment level: one day per week for any homework help time slot)

Every afternoon over one hundred students attend Homework Help.  Our staff is stretched thin managing the classroom and line outside. We need a few folks to serve one day per week as a room host for this program.  Job duties include welcoming students and volunteers, organizing books throughout the Homework Help time, and jumping in where needed.  As a volunteer, we understand the need to miss time to time, but we are looking for a few people to commit to coming once per week (most weeks) for this role.

ESL Childcare volunteer (commitment level: one day per week - monday or Thursday from 9-11 am)

Our daytime ESL class is growing.  Starting January 14, we need additional volunteers to watch the younger children of the women attending class..  Our daytime ESL class meets Monday and Thursday between 9:00-11:00 am. We need volunteers willing to commit to one day per week.

medical team member (commitment level: flexible)

Interested in driving families to medical and dental appointments?  We need you! This is a flexible opportunity where you sign up for appointments that work for you and your schedule. Training is available.

PROVIDE FOOD FOR OUR BIBLE STUDIES

Each week over 80 students meet in six different onsite Bible Studies. We love to feed our students whenever we can. If you are willing to provide a meal for one of these studies, let us know!

Special projects

From time to time we have special projects that need extra hands. Let us know if you are interested in being on our special projects email list.

prayer team (commitment level: flexible)

A group meets monthly to pray for the needs of Raleigh's refugee community.  Would you join us?  Visit our calendar for upcoming prayer dates.
