2nd Annual Youth Fall Retreat

Everything we do as Refugee Hope Partners seeks to have a Kingdom impact. The Gospel is the reason we are here. In the beginning of October, we were able to take over 50 middle and high school students on a Fall Retreat. We invited our boys and girls from Bible Studies to come to New Life Camp. We ate, played games, heard stories of God’s grace and sovereignty in people’s lives, talked, and didn’t get much sleep.

We had two worship gatherings where we sang and listened to five different speakers. Instead of having one speaker this year, we decided to have multiple share during each session. On the first night we had a young woman that is a spoken word artist share with us how God brought her from darkness to light, from a life of sin and shame to a life lived confident in the righteousness of Christ. We also had one of the basketball coaches from a local high school come and speak that night. She shared about how God has shaped her identity. She no longer has to strive to be the best basketball player on the court, the best student, the perfect daughter. Her identity is in Christ, and that shapes the rest of her life. The second session we had several other speakers. One talked about how God has kept him, even when the world has told him that he SHOULD be something else. He quoted a song that says “I am who HE says I am” - not who others tell me I should be. We are so thankful for the ways God has worked in their lives and that they were willing to share with our kids part of their stories.
